Technology with a Heart

When talking about the latest in technology what often comes to mind are stuff like cellphones, new computers, cool software, games, plasma TVs, and other nice shiny things that add fun to ones life. Largely overlooked are advances and inventions that were conceived for a greater cause. It is a sad thing that technology, basic or otherwise, is often beyond the grasp of the poor and uneducated. This is why it is so heartening to see projects and organisations like the OLPC (One Laptop per Child), Charity Technology Trust, Technology for the Poor, Hexayurt, and others make an effort and succeed in making a difference. Technology should be for everybody. Technology should show the hearts of the people behind it.
