Remember when you had to reboot each time you plugged some peripheral device through your computer ports otherwise they wouldn't be recognized at all? Enter the Universal Serial Bus(USB). USB connected devices have the ability to be hot-swappable and recognizable without needing to reboot the operating system which is why USB’s are now the connection of choice for most modern devices. Aside from simply providing the physical connection, USB’s also provide electrical power to the device. USB’s also have the ability to provide multiple extensions, with each one separately recognizable by your computer. Thus, even if your central processing unit only has 2 USB sockets, you can plug USB extensions when you need to connect more and more devices to your computer.
