What's Up with Google PR?

So what's up with Google Page rank? If you have been following the previos Google Pagerank updates over the past few years you know they update their toolbar pretty much once a quarter. With the last update taking place mid April most SEO experts were speculating for a late July - early August update. But that time has come and gone and no update is in sight. Some have suggested that Google is abandoning their Page Rank display from the Google Toolbar (the actual Page Rank would continue to be counted and updated as it is today) but no formal news has come out from Google yet.
