Every other year, in Washington D.C., there is a great event that takes place which involves twenty university teams from around the world. No, I’m not talking about basketball, hockey or even soccer. These teams come to design, build and operate very efficient solar homes over a period of a week. This contest has been taking place every other year since 2002. This year the event will begin on October 11th and end on October 16th. BP Solar together with the U.S. Department of Energy is sponsoring this event known as the BP Solar Decathlon.

 

BP Solar has been a sponsor of these events since the very first contest in 2002. The goal of this event is to produce cost effective and clean energy solutions for everyday living. BP Solar has created a blog where the competing teams and others can relate to readers the exciting developments as the week goes by. This may not be basketball, but it sure is remarkable to see what great inventions these brilliant participants come up with. These creations may make their way into our homes very soon. It could be a cost effective and clean energy future for us all.
