Choosing the right engine oil will determine how good and how long your engine runs before it needs another oil change. Engine oil is usually classified under three categories. Regular, Semi-synthetic, and Fully synthetic. One of the basic differences has to do with the life of the oil. Regular engine oil is usually good for 5,000 kilometers or 3 months or regular use. Semi-synthetic is good up to 10,000 kilometers or 6 months of use.
While fully synthetic oil is the longest lasting and may be good up to 20,000 kilometers. In other words, the more synthetic ingredients are added to the oil component, the longer the operating life between oil changes. But you do have to change oil filters at regular intervals even if you keep the same oil in your engine. |
