While most gadget companies race to create smaller, smaller, smaller things, Red is taking the opposite track. They recently released the world’s biggest remote, about a foot long. Clunky? Yes. But you’ll never lose it in the crack of the sofa, and the extra big buttons may come in use if you’re, uh, Shrek.

The gadget costs $40, although the price tag can be justified when you think about everything else you can do with it. Prop your feet up. Hit robbers on the head. And if ever you’re caught in the battle for the remote, you can always break it in half.
