Registered Domain Names

Domain names made it easy for Internet users to more easily find and communicate with web sites and other server-based services by allowing the use of unique alphabetical resources instead of numeric ones. The system’s flexibility facilitates assignment of multiple IP addresses to one domain name and vice versa.

The Internationalized Domain Name System or the IDN was developed to enable users of non-English alphabets to use the Internet by bypassing restrictions on character allowances in hostnames. IP addresses and server names are generally interchangeable and most Internet services’ servers would not know which was used.
